S197 & S550 Mustangs are great cars, however they are prone to understeer and most models came with relatively narrow and heavy wheels which really limited their abilities on the street and track.
Upgrading to a set of lightweight chassis specific wheels and tires in wider widths will make a world of difference to extract more performance. So, Apex created the EC-7 to increase your Mustang's performance for ripping the road or tearing up the track.
EC-7 Features:
The Flow Form Advantage
- Flow forming enables to create high performance wheels without the price premium of forging. It improves the mechanical properties and grain structure of the barrel, increasing its strength and stiffness, which allows to use less material and reduce weight. Thanks to superior engineering by Apex, Their flow formed wheels have a higher load rating than some competitors' forged wheels.
Maximum Concavity
- Using the deepest concave face profiles that Apex can for every application after factoring in critical clearances such as brake calipers. The SM-10 utilizes 3 unique profiles to make this possible, with the deepest concave face delivering reduced weight and a stunningly aggressive appearance.
Big Brake Clearance
- Big brakes often require bigger, heavier, more expensive wheels, which aren’t ideal in a performance environment. The SM-10 is one of our many wheels which solve this problem. Through comprehensive laser scanning and endless rounds of test-fitting, Apex created their wheels to clear huge brakes that typically require you going to the next size up wheels with other manufacturers.
Weight Optimized
- Apex conducted extensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to reinforce high-stress areas and to remove material where it didn’t improve strength. The result is a wheel that is exceptionally light without the strength compromises found on typical lightweight wheels.
Built For Impact Sockets
- 32mm Socket Diameter Clearance! Track wheels need track tools. Don’t settle for wheels that require undersized tuner lugs or thin walled sockets. All APEX wheels accommodate over-sized race lugs and impact sockets to make swapping wheels lightning fast.
Finishing Touches
- The EC- is finished using a multi-stage liquid paint over a powder coated base coat. This coating process leaves lug holes, center bores and mounting pads untouched, which ensures proper fit and torque values.
JWL and Beyond
- All APEX Flow Formed wheels meet or meaningfully exceed JWL load rating requirements. Some manufacturers don't meet the minimum requirements, yet still claim to be compliant. Always compare load ratings to ensure you aren’t sacrificing critical strength for a slightly lighter wheel.

- SQUARE - Same Spec Wheels Front & Rear: Recommended for drives that want to mitigate understeer, improve turn-in, and ability to rotate tires front & rear for extended life.
- STAGGERED- Wider Rear Wheels to Front: Maintains stock-like handling characteristics, tires can only be rotated left to right.
Important - TPMS not included
Apex wheels do not come with TPMS sensors, which should be bought separately. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is a factory-installed safety feature on newer vehicles that monitors when your tire pressure drops to an unsafe limit.
